Gemz Mas proudly presents Gulliver’s Travels. This year’s costumed theme presentation is a tribute to the late mas man Steven Rosemin from Trinidad & Tobago. The first presentation of Gulliver was in 1984 in Trinidad whereby the story of Gulliver in Lilliput graced the streets of down-town Port-Of-Spain for children’s carnival. An adaptation of the Jonathan Swift novel, Gulliver is portrayed as a Caribbean man who made the voyage on the Empire Windrush from the Caribbean to England. We explore Gulliver’s journey and the contribution he and many of his country men made to the British landscape over the past 70 years. We thank our resident head designer, Giselle Carter for bringing this story to life.
